Talking About Tiles: Informative Seminars Scheduled for AIA & NeoCon
|

Ceramic Tiles of Italy is getting the message out about the innovative and
widespread uses of Italian tile. In addition to their institutional presence
at AIA and NeoCon, the Italians will sponsor seminars at each show. On May
17 at 7:00AM, the final morning of the AIA Convention & Expo, award-winning
contemporary architect Richard Fleishman will present: A Fresh Approach to
Educational Planning & Design: Design/Cost Impact of Innovative
Exterior/Interior Porcelain Applications on Educational Facilities. Less
than one month later, Ceramic Tiles of Italy will offer two symposiums as
part of the NeoCon general conference program. On June 9, the opening day of
the show, speakers Michael P. Johnson, Michael P. Johnson Design Studios;
Dan Emmel, Tile X Design; and Paul Shahriari, Green Mind Inc will address
the NeoCon audience on the topic of ceramic ventilated wall facades and
their sustainable characteristics. Later in the week, Edie Cohen, Deputy
Editor of Interior Design Magazine will lead a panel of distinguished
hospitality designers in a discussion entitled: ospitality is Hot for Tile.
The lecture is scheduled for June 11 at 1:00PM. |

Coverings Preview: Inspiration, Innovation and Information Await at the Italian Pavilion |

Coverings is set to take place from April 29-May 2 at the Orange County
Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The Italian Pavilion will be alive with
the sights, sounds and aromas of this magnificent country. From their
trendsetting products to their well thought-out displays, Italian tile
exhibitors are known for consistently raising the bar (and serving espressos
in almost every booth). As a tribute to the ever-growing metallic trend,
Ceramic Tiles of Italy's popular piazza and satellite cafe, designed by
Bernard Tschumi Architects, will be clad in himmering gold and silver
tiles. Also be sure to check out the Ceramic Tiles of Italy Design
Competition award exhibition and the Italians' raffle promotion. |

Cersaie Report - What's Hot in Italian Tile |

New colors were one of the big stories at Cersaie 2007. At the spring
tradeshows, the palette consisted of shades of pink, green and orange. Now
the industry is leaning towards a more sophisticated color scheme of rich
red, black and white. New shapes including a diamond-shaped mosaic tile and
fashion-forward textures with looks that range from crinkled leather to
carbon fiber were introduced at the show this year. The Italians are always
at the forefront of technology and have pioneered new cutting-edge methods
that have the whole industry buzzing.
