CALL FOR ENTRIES: 2016 CERAMICS OF ITALY TILE COMPETITION

Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) and the Italian Trade Commission are pleased to announce the official call for entries for the 2016 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition. For the past 22 years, the competition has served as a unique platform to showcase the work of North American architects and designers who utilize the high technical and aesthetic qualities of Italian tile. Each year an international jury of design experts selects three winning projects as well as honorable mentions in the residential, institutional, and commercial/hospitality sectors. CERAMICS OF ITALY NORTH AMERICAN TOUR ARRIVES IN NEW YORK

From May 16-19, 2015, Ceramics of Italy will bring its multi-brand pavilion to ICFF at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Center, showcasing the latest design trends in ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings. Manufacturers will showcase products recently made available in the North American market that represent the breadth and beauty of Italian tiles—with designs referencing a multitude of creative disciplines: pop art, architectural blueprints, traditional clay working, and graphic design, in addition to the innovative reimaginings of natural materials. AVALON FLOORING HONORED WITH PRESTIGIOUS 2015 CONFINDUSTRIA CERAMICA NORTH AMERICAN DISTRIBUTOR AWARD

After carefully considering the many outstanding North America- based tile distributors, Avalon Flooring has been selected by Confindustria Ceramica (the Italian Association of Ceramics) to receive the 2015 Confindustria Ceramica North American Distributor Award. CERAMICS OF ITALY SHINES AT COVERINGS 2015

Once again, the Ceramics of Italy booth (4823) will be transformed into Piazza Ceramica—a show-stopping, topography-inspired exhibit melding contemporary Italian design with the vibrant energy of Orlando. Designed by e+i studio and built by A&M, the entire 3,000 square foot space will be an inspiring display of design and craftsmanship showcasing a range of ceramic and porcelain tiles from Atlas Concorde, Ceramiche Caesar, Emilceramica, Floor Gres, Lea Ceramiche and Marazzi. The floor tiles, set on a raised flooring system, will be water-jet cut by Stratos to create an undulating pattern and focal point of the design. The installation and maintenance of the space will be facilitated by grout, nosing and cleaning products donated by Mapei, Profilpas, and FILA Surface Care Solutions. CERAMICS OF ITALY SPONSORS INSTALLATION DESIGN SHOWCASE AT COVERINGS 2015

For the sixth consecutive year, Ceramics of Italy will participate in the Installation Design Showcase at Coverings—an initiative organized by show producers and the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA). This year, Diana Chase, AIA of Helman Hurley Charvat Peacock/Architects (HHCP) and a team of NTCA Five Star Contractors from Michael’s Custom Tile, will work together to bring to life a high-end resort bathroom over the course of the show. The installation will highlight the natural fit of Italian tile in hospitality settings, as well as demonstrate how manufacturers, designers, and contractors can work together to create exemplary spaces with quality materials, construction, and installation. 23 Manufacturers Showcasing the Best in Italian Ceramics at ICFF 2014

From May 17-20, 2014, Ceramics of Italy will return to the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Center with its biggest multi-brand pavilion to date. CERAMICS OF ITALY PARTNERS WITH USGBC AND ARTCRAFT FOR COVERINGS INSTALLATION DESIGN SHOWCASE

For the sixth year in a row, Ceramics of Italy is confirming its position as a leader in ceramic innovation and design by participating in the Coverings Installation Design Showcase, an initiative organized by show producers and the National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA). Ceramics of Italy has partnered with the Nevada Chapter of the United States Green Building Council and NTCA Five Star Contractor Artcraft Granite, Marble, and Tile Inc. to transform a 10’ x 20’ space into a bathroom vignette that highlights universal design and the sustainable properties of Italian ceramic and porcelain tiles. CERAMICS OF ITALY LAUNCHES NEW APP FOR GLOBAL DESIGN FAIRS

This spring, Ceramics of Italy (the institutional brand of the Italian Association of Ceramics) will launch a dynamic new tool to help visitors discover Italian ceramics at design fairs worldwide. Beginning with two of the Italian ceramic sector's most important markets—North America and Russia—the Ceramics of Italy app will allow attendees of Mosbuild, Coverings and ICFF to easily locate Ceramics of Italy companies, discover new ceramic products, learn about events and organize their visits to each fair. CERAMICS OF ITALY OFFERS A&D VIP TOUR AT COVERINGS 2014

After its highly successful launch last year, Ceramics of Italy will once again offer its A&D VIP program to members of the architecture and design community attending Coverings 2014 from April 29 - May 2, 2014 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The interactive program will offer participants a tailored experience of the tile and stone show with daily guided tours of the Italian Pavilion and a private Italian lunch. CERAMICS OF ITALY PRESS CONFERENCES AT COVERINGS 2014

During the 25th edition of Coverings (the country’s premier tile and stone show), Ceramics of Italy will hold two press conferences in Room S224 of the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. On April 29 at 3pm, Ceramics of Italy will hold a joint press conference with CTDA to announce a progressive new initiative on Good Phytosanitary Practices. Then on April 30 at 4pm, representatives from the Italian ceramics industry will discuss the state of the industry and reveal the winners of the 2014 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition during the annual International Press Conference. CERAMICS OF ITALY PARTICIPATES IN CONFERENCE ON ARCHITECTURAL CERAMICS IN BOSTON

From March 22-23, 2014, Ceramics of Italy participated in a technical symposium on architectural ceramics in Boston, connecting the Italian tile industry with leading architects, engineers, conservators and other professionals responsible for aspects of the built environment from the U.S. and Canada. Organized by Technology & Conservation, the MIT Department of Architecture’s Building and Technology Program and the Boston Society of Architects’ Historic Resources Committee, “Architectural Ceramics in the 21st Century: Design & Preservation of Contemporary & Historic Architecture” explored the use, performance, maintenance and preservation of terra cotta, porcelain, and other architectural ceramics during an intensive two-day conference held in the Wong Auditorium of MIT’s Cambridge campus. In celebration of its Silver Anniversary, Coverings is headed to the entertainment capital of the world for four days of tile, stone, and glittering lights. Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition 2013: Call for Entries

Confindustria Ceramica and the Italian Trade Commission announce the official call for entries for the 2013 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition. Now in its 20th year, the contest honors the exceptional work of North American architects and designers who have featured Italian ceramic tiles in their institutional, residential, and commercial/hospitality projects completed between January 2008 and January 2013. It celebrates the pairing of innovative design ideas and products from leading manufacturers of Italian ceramic tile in creating spaces that are well appointed, versatile, timeless, and sustainable. The winning architect/designer in each category will receive $4,000 and a 5-day trip to Bologna, Italy to attend Cersaie 2013 - the world's largest exhibition for ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings. CERAMICS OF ITALY TURNS UP THE HEAT IN ORLANDO

This year Coverings will return to the Orange Country Convention Center in Orlando, Florida from April 17-20, 2012 and, not surprisingly, the Italian pavilion will be the center of attention. The Ceramics of Italy pavilion will feature an exciting new booth design as proposed by e+i studio. Florida High Performance Green House Wins Coverings Project:Green Remodel Featuring Italian Tiles from Coem, Fioranese & Trend

The Italian tile industry was well represented in Coverings PROJECT Green competition, taking home two top honors. Featuring a range of eco-friendly tiles from Coem, Fioranese and Trend, the “Florida High Performance Green House” project in Cape Coral, Florida, won one of four Best in Shows for PROJECT: Green, Residential Remodel selection at the Coverings 2011 conference. Designed by Green Building Consultant Paul Shahriari, the home focuses on the cost/benefit of green building using a triple bottom line structure (environment, economic and social).
